Which Denali DL-Series Light is Right for You?

Which Denali DL-Series Driving Lights are the ones for you?

Over the years, we’ve met hundreds of riders at shows, rallies and bike events — and quite often when we demo the Denali lights on our display rack, we get the same reaction:
“Wow, those lights are incredible… but how much did you say they cost?”

We get it — Denali’s lighting performance is legendary, but it hasn’t always been within reach for every rider. That’s exactly why we’re so excited about the new DL-Series Driving Lights. For the first time, Denali has created a range of lights that deliver the same outstanding quality, clever engineering, and long-lasting durability – at a much more accessible price point.

Whether you ride a commuter bike, a weekend tourer or a full-blown adventure machine, the DL2, DL4, DL6 and DL9 cover every base. All models come with Denali’s DataDim™ dimming tech, rugged waterproof housings, and a 5-year warranty – so you’re not trading performance for price. You’re simply getting more light for your money.

In this guide, we’ll help you find the right DL-Series light for your bike, your riding style, and your setup.

Final Thoughts on the DL-Series

DL2 – Compact and Clever

The DL2 is the smallest in the DL-Series, but don’t let that fool you. With 3,400 lumens per pair and a wide, visibility-focused beam pattern, these lights are designed to help you be seen – especially in traffic, poor weather, or low-light conditions.

This makes the DL2 a great choice for riders who mainly commute or tour on smaller bikes, and want to upgrade their lighting without adding bulk or weight. It’s also ideal as a lower auxiliary light on larger machines, particularly adventure bikes, where space and positioning options vary. We recommend the DL2 for fork leg mounts, engine bars or bike-dedicated brackets, or as part of a tiered lighting setup.

Despite the smaller size, the DL2 still includes everything you’d expect from Denali: DataDim™ plug-and-play dimming, DrySeal™ waterproofing, and a 5-year warranty. It’s also available in white, amber, or selective yellow beam options, so you can tailor it to your ride and riding conditions.

Choose the DL2 if you want reliable, compact lighting that increases your presence on the road without overwhelming your setup – all at an accessible price point.

if you want reliable, compact lighting that increases your presence on the road without overwhelming your setup – all at an accessible price point.

DL4 – The All-Rounder

If you’re looking for a versatile, go-anywhere light that delivers great performance across the board, the DL4 is a solid choice. It sits right in the middle of the DL-Series range, offering a big step up in brightness from the DL2 – with 3,400 lumens per light pod (6,800 lumens per pair) – while staying compact enough to suit a wide variety of bike sizes.

The DL4 uses a perfected hybrid driving beam, which means you get excellent distance lighting down the road, plus enough side visibility to feel confident on dark lanes or country roads. It’s a genuine do-it-all light pod that’s ideal as your primary auxiliary driving light on small to medium adventure, touring or road bikes.

Thanks to its 4-LED design and balanced beam pattern, the DL4 gives you plenty of punch without overpowering your setup – and it fits comfortably on crash bars, forks, or tucked away on specific mounts. Like the rest of the DL-Series, it’s available in white, amber, or selective yellow beam colours, and features Denali’s full suite of premium tech:

  • DataDim™, DialDim or Cansmart plug-and-play dimming
  • DrySeal™ waterproof construction
  • 5-year Denali warranty

Choose the DL4 …

if you want a reliable, road-ready auxiliary light that gives you real performance without going overboard in size or cost. It’s our go-to recommendation for everyday riders who want serious lighting with flexible mounting options.

DL6 – For the Open Road

The DL6 is built for riders who want more reach, more width, and more visibility at speed. With six high-output LEDs per pod, it delivers a massive 5,100 lumens per light (10,200 lumens per pair) — a serious upgrade for anyone riding long distances, at night, or in changing conditions.

It’s still compact enough to fit neatly onto most medium to large motorcycles, but packs in Denali’s hybrid driving beam to give you a perfect mix of forward throw and wide spread. This makes it ideal for open-road touring, fast A-road runs, or even those longer winter commutes where daylight is in short supply.

The DL6 comes with all the standard DL-Series features you’d expect:

  • What we recommend: DialDim or CANsmart controllers. The DialDim allows you to manually adjust the light output from 0% to 100%. It can be used in conjunction with your high-beam, so a sensible DRL can be used on dip beam, but allowing for 100% performance on high-beam.
The CANbus controller would be the optimal solution, should one be available for your bike (if not, fall back on the DialDim)
  • And – what we don’t recommend: DataDim™ module. It lets you run your lights at 50% or 100% on your conventional factory high-beam. However, even on the 50% setting these lights will blind oncoming motorists, so, not a good idea.
  • DrySeal™ waterproofing means they’ll keep shining in all weather
  • Available in white, amber or selective yellow to suit your visibility needs
  • Backed by Denali’s 5-year warranty

Choose the DL6 …

if you want a serious lighting upgrade for your mid-sized or full-size bike, especially if you ride regularly after dark or through open, rural terrain. It’s a brilliant choice for road-touring setups and higher-speed riding.

DL9 – Maximum Output. No Compromises.

If you’re the kind of rider who doesn’t do anything by halves, the DL9 is your light. This is the largest and most powerful light pod in the DL-Series range, designed to deliver extreme visibility in the most demanding conditions. With nine high-output LEDs per pod, it cranks out a staggering 7,650 lumens per light (15,300 lumens per pair) — making it one of the brightest road-legal auxiliary lights available.

The DL9’s perfected hybrid beam provides long-range projection and wide peripheral spread, helping you spot hazards early, see through fast bends, and feel confident on dark country roads or when riding off-grid. While it’s physically bigger than the DL6, the rectangular housing still allows for clean mounting on crash bars, fork brackets, or dedicated bike mounts — especially on large ADV and touring bikes.

As with the rest of the DL-Series, you get Denali’s full feature set:

  • Again, not recommended: DataDim™ module. It lets you run your lights at 50% or 100% on your conventional factory high-beam. However, even on the 50% setting these lights will blind oncoming motorists, so, not a good idea.
  • What we recommend: DialDim or CANsmart controllers. The DialDim allows you to manually adjust the light output from 0% to 100%. It can be used in conjunction with your high-beam, so a sensible DRL can be used on dip beam, but allowing for 100% performance on high-beam.
The CANbus controller would be the optimal solution, should one be available for your bike (if not, fall back on the DialDim). The CANbus controller would give you, depending on your bike, High/Low Sync, Flash to Pass, Invers Flashing with Turn Hazards, Deceleration Smart Break, Cancel with Turn Signal, to name just a few of the lots of functionalities. Here you can read more about Denali’s CANsmart technology
  • DrySeal™ construction for total waterproofing
  • Available in white, amber, or selective yellow
  • 5-year Denali warranty for peace of mind

Choose the DL9 …

if you want the most output, the most presence, and the most confidence in your lighting setup — whether you’re commuting year-round, covering long-distance night miles, or pushing deep into remote terrain.
